About Yesterday

Who is Yesterday?

Yesterday is an online marketplace developed as a low-cost option for everybody to have an opportunity to earn additional income either while travelling to and from required destinations, or as a stand-alone income revenue stream. Yesterday recognise that there is a substantial cost of living crisis and wanted to give an opportunity for everybody to earn additional income in efforts to offset these rising costs.

In addition, deliveries are expensive, restricted, and increasingly unreliable. We wanted to build a community where we can support each other, reduce the cost of deliveries, expand purchasing footprint, while others earn additional income.

What can we get delivered through Yesterday?

Well almost anything. Almost.

Yesterday has been built to be utilised for a multitude of services. From a letter all the way through to a car, excavator or heavy machinery. For Birthday, Christmas presents through to business requiring parts, or stationery. Yesterday has tried to incorporate freedom for everyone to use. People performing deliveries are required to enter in their vehicle of choice from a push bike to a truck and the application will show what they can deliver with their vehicle, however it is still the responsibility of the person performing the delivery to ensure that the task is within their capabilities.

Who was Yesterday built for?

In short, everyone.

The Yesterday people want to give everyone the opportunity for a new revenue stream and save money on deliveries. From unemployed people, caravanners, Drive-in-Drive-Out (DIDO), people with limited abilities, stay at home parents, tradies, travellers through Australia, retirees, Truck Drivers, really anybody over 18 years of age with a safe and compliant mode of transport.

For senders, it can be a person who needs things moved within their property or across the country and everything in-between.

Who is Yesterday trying to compete with?

Nobody.

Yesterday has been built for its own purpose without international input or cooperate greed. It has been built to assist in achieving real work life balance, and be available for people who work traditional, non-traditional hours, casual, part time, or permanent working hours, or even retired and unemployed people.

It is intended to give everybody a low-cost option for people to earn money. Unlike some applications, Yesterday does not take any profit from the deliverers. It only requires a monthly subscription fee of $10, and for senders, 5% surcharge on agreed delivery price. This is to maintain the application, and if successful, eventually do some philanthropic work.

Is Yesterday Australian?

Absolutely! The founders are Australian and built by Australian application builders. Every effort has been made to keep as much as possible within Australia. It is the belief by the Yesterday people that Australians are resourceful and smart, we can compete with international companies.

What parts are not Australian?

Some of the application support like Stripe, Apple, and Google. They may not be owned by Australians but do have an Australian office which does employ Australians.

What is the future for Yesterday?

In the short term, we are hoping to advance from app based to app and web based soon in encouraging more Senders. Longer term, we are looking at other industries and current corporately owned activities, building technology through apps and web-based interfaces in allowing everyday Australians opportunities which they normally would not have. The aim for Yesterday is to build technology giving every Australian opportunity in real work / life balance, the ability to build their own brands, and make new income streams to either offset cost of living, increases or supplement income.

Depending on the success of Yesterday, we would also take the opportunity to support Australians through philanthropic and humanitarian work within Australia, not overseas, recognising that there are many people struggling here, within Australia.

Australians, helping Australians, to invest in Australians.

Why name the app Yesterday?

The name Yesterday was selected to capture the following:

Yesterday considered all these scenarios and more in developing the application. Yesterday reflected on a current problem, utilises a modern solution in an attempt to protect and improve on the good parts of yesterday.

We can’t answer this one for you. There are benefits and obligations which come with an ABN. We suggest you seek independent professional advice on this.

No.

Yesterday is a marketplace in which Senders can post a job, and Deliverers can bid on completing the delivery. You are your own entity. As a Deliverer, you can set your own price, provide a service when you are available, from and to areas you would like. The freedom is all yours.

You can do this through the messenger function in the app.

Remain respectful firstly.

Ensuring you have taken photos on pickup and on delivery will give you evidence that you have not damage or stolen property.

If this does continue, you can leave a respectful but honest review of the Sender. Just remember, your comments can be disputed so please remain truthful and respectful.

What if I turn up to pick up a delivery and it is not as described?

Take a deep breath, this one can be frustrating.

Firstly, can you still take it?

If you cannot, for example you bid on a 5 kilo delivery and it is 50kg, you can politely ask the Sender to

If you can, but it is inconvenient, politely discuss with the Sender and you can always leave a rating and review on the Sender. Remember to remain respectful. If the conversation becomes confrontation, leave immediately. You can always report significant issues to Yesterday.

Unfortunately, if you do not complete the delivery, you will not get paid and will not be compensated for the wasted time. You can leave a respectful but honest review for another Deliverer to see of the Sender. Just remember, your comments can be disputed so please remain truthful and respectful.

Please remember to give as much detail as possible. This will help the Deliverer make decisions on taking your item. There is a big difference in moving a fridge from a low set easy accessible house when compared to an apartment on the fifth floor of a building without an elavator with limited parking.

What if I have a budget?

That is ok. We expect people will have budgets.

You can set your budget when posting the job you request. However, ensure you are reasonable. For example, if you want to move a piano from the top story of an apartment building from Sydney to Darwin and your budget is $20 you may be disappointed with the number of bidders that express interest.

I am a business; can I use the app?

Absolutely you can.

Currently there is only the mobile app available. There are intentions to expand this to web based in the future, but this is dependent on uptake of the app.

What happens if my parcel does not arrive?

This can be frustrating, remain respectful.

Firstly, you can contact the Deliverer through the mobile app. Remember to remain polite, there may be road works, vehicle issues, weather affecting delays, or other unplanned issues.

If this is not the case, and you can not contact the Deliverer,

What assurance do I have if my parcel is damaged?

You can see the rating of the Deliverer through their profile when they are placing their bid. Additionally, you can ask Deliverers when you are going through the bidding process if they have insurance in which you must expect a higher price to compensate the Deliverer for their additional operating costs.

Yesterday is a marketplace and does not provide compensation for damage to your property, damage you may have caused, injury to you, or injury you may have caused, or any loss which you may have caused or incurred during the delivery process. Other Stuff

I have suggestions for improvements with Yesterday, how do I contact you?

Within you profile there is a Contact us section. You can use this function to send us suggestions. We welcome any suggestions for improvements.

I have an idea and want to build an app, what would you suggest?

We did a lot of research first.

Secondly, we reached out to professionals in building the app. There is so much out there that leads you to believe you can do it yourself, and you can, but nothing can replace experience and professionalism.

Yesterday used Appifany and have no reservations in recommending them. Will, Isidora, Barsha, Milan, Joel, and Arista are very supportive, professional, and a wealth of knowledge leading us from feasibility all the way through app development, marketing, and advertising. They are approachable, professional, and able to convert technical talk into a language which is easy to understand, simplifying decision making processes and guiding to the best results.

For the legal side of things, we use K2 Law. Dakota-Lily, James, and India are also exceptional. They were able to advise us throughout the full process in development of Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policies, and all that is required in setting Yesterday up for success now and in the future. Their guidance was outstanding, language considered our experience and exposure levels and respectful.

Both Appifany and K2 Law are contactable, a wealth of knowledge, and made it a pleasure throughout the entire process.

Nothing worth doing is easy and if it is worth doing, it is worth doing properly. It is ok to be wrong, ask for advice, and listen.

Would Yesterday invest in my ideas?

Well, that depends.

Yesterday is a start-up company and our revenue is solely from the app. When the app has sustainable revenue, we will be interested in discussing opportunities, but this will be at the discretion of the Yesterday people.
